How about this for your #MondayMotivation…
What better way to wake up than to know you would be going to visit these marvelous animals?! Beautiful and charismatic, these animals simply wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the fantastic work of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (or Chengdu Panda Base for short). Being a non-profit organisation, the Chengdu Panda Base is a research and breeding facility for Giant Pandas and other endangered species. Founded in 1987, when it became the home for just 6 Giant Pandas that had been rescued from the wild. Since then, the center has come on leaps and bounds and by 2008, it had seen 124 panda births, and the captive panda population had grown to 83. This is a tremendous achievement, and their fantastic work continues!
Pandas are found in the Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces in China. Of all of these regions, there are less than 1000 pandas in total and 80% of those are found in Sichuan. In order to save the species and rear them in a way that would be suitable for their development in the wild, the center has created an environment that mimics the pandas’ natural habitat. This provides the best environment for both rearing and breeding for the pandas.
