The wall of the Qin dynasty was made were built of rammed earth and were rebuilt with bricks and clay from the twelfth to the fifteenth centuries with reconstruction largely attributed to the Ming dynasty.
The Great Wall was designated as an UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987 and has since been placed under great protection by Chinese authority, described by the World Monuments Fund as one of the World’s Top 100 Most Endangered Sites. With this in mind, whilst we couldn’t encourage you enough to visit this magnificent site, we also can’t emphasise enough the importance to treat this great structure with respect.
