Our newest Tuesday feature is something that we like to call #GetCultured! Beginning with Singapore, we urge you to get cultured by seeing the island’s iconic Merlion statue, situated in Merlion park.
With the body of a fish or a mermaid and the head of a lion, the Merlion is symbolic of Singapore itself. The body of a fish is said to convey Singapore’s beginnings as a small fishing village whilst the head, known as ‘Singapura’ is representative of the ‘lion city’ that Singapore has become.
At 8.6 metres tall and weighing 70 tonnes, the Merlion is one of Singapore’s must-see icons and something incomparable to any statues elsewhere. So #getcultured in Singapore and see the beautiful Merlion statue with its water spout whilst overlooking the stunning views of the Marina Bay Area!0
