This is where we come in useful! Start by choosing what you are happy to spend, once we have your budget, we can maximise the value for you!
Allow enough time not only to plan your trip, but also on your honeymoon itself. We love multi-centre trips, but don’t stretch yourself too thin. Squeezing too much into too little time can take away time for you to actually relax and enjoy your time with your newlywed. Sometimes less is more.
3. Utilise advise and decide on your destination
There are places in the world you wouldn’t even dream exist. Make the most of our expert advise and choose the perfect destination that we can tailor to suit you.
The earlier you book, the cheaper they will be. Save your money on flights and spoil your loved one with the extra cash – go on adventurous excursions or pamper yourself in the luxurious spa!
5. Visas and Legal Requirements
We always advise you to check the most up-to-date visa requirements. We will tell you what visas you require, but it’s up to you to obtain those visas and keep a frequent eye on travel updates on the FCO website. It’s also really important to remember to book your honeymoon in the same name that matches your legal documents! You may be becoming Mr and Mrs, but you’ll be updating your passport when you get home, so book your travel arrangements in your maiden name. (As with any holiday, we always recommend you have at least 6 months validity left on your passport – some countries will not grant you entry without it).
6. Visit a travel health clinic!
Lots of exotic countries require or at lest advise having certain vaccinations and you may require anti-malarials. Your health is important to us, so make sure you check this at least 8 weeks prior to travel as some vaccinations must be administered over a course of weeks.
7. Plan & book excursions
Even though your first thoughts of your honeymoon may be being waited on hand and foot and laying on a beach – be original! You are probably setting off to one of the most beautiful places in the world; learn a little about it, go off the beaten track and explore the local culture and wildlife!
If you’re a food lover, like us, we recommend doing some research on the best restaurants in and around the resort(s) you are going to visit. Michelin star and restaurants of a high calibre often have waiting lists months long – make sure you don’t miss out! Book in advance!
9. Travel Insurance
Insurance is an essential, whether you’re going for a weekend city break or a luxury 3 week holiday. When you’ve spent so much money on your dream honeymoon ensure it is covered! Cover the activities you may be taking part in – it’s better to be safe than sorry!
With all the mayhem and all the planning, lots of couples forget to actually plan for the honeymoon! Don’t leave it too last minute, do your holiday shop early, remember your adaptors and pack in advance so you’re not panicking on your wedding night. By this time, it should all be plain sailing, just relax and enjoy! Be sure to pack some healthcare essentials, too. If you are visiting exotic countries, take a small health kit with you, just to be on the safe side!
